Become a Walsh Competition Sponsor

The Walsh Family Law Moot, which started in 2013, was the first provincial family law moot in Canada. In 2015, the event was expanded to include a negotiation competition focusing on the settlement discussions and negotiations that take place in family law cases. The two competitions run concurrently on the same day and involve many and varied dedicated professionals donating their time to assist in various capacities for the benefit of the students.

This year, the moot will be held at the Ontario Court of Appeal and the negotiation competition will be held at The Advocates’ Society.   Competitors, coaches, judges, and volunteers will gather together for an awards luncheon following the competitions.

All eight Ontario law schools participated in 2022 and are set to compete in this year’s event. This is an exciting collaborative opportunity between law schools, legal academics, family justice system partners and AFCC-O. The goal is to offer law students an opportunity to gain practical family law knowledge and experience, and to attract talented young lawyers to the practice of family law in Ontario.

Sponsorship opportunities are available to assist with the expenses of the day, in particular, the costs associated with moving the competitions to an on-line platform.
